Be you
You don’t have to pretend to be someone else to get noticed.
You don’t need to adopt a louder, shinier version of yourself. You don’t need to use jargon or rehearse lines that don’t sound like you. And you certainly don’t need to shape-shift into whatever LinkedIn,a podcast host, or a journalist might expect a “credible founder” to be. You are enough as you are. Let’s stop performing. Sure, some of us use a mask to help us get through, but what if we took it off and were ourselves? What if we paved the way for other people to also be themselves? And wouldn’t it be more fun to attract the people you want to work with and buy your product/service because they thought you sounded fun, or were doing things in the way they valued?
Wouldn’t it be strange if you spoke to me and I didn’t sound like… me?
The same goes for your business visibility.
There are a lot of myths out there about building a public profile:
“You need a huge audience.”
“It’s all about ego.”
“You need a massive budget.”
Audience and budget can help. But they are not the only way. Standing out can help. But you can do that as you.
What you do need is:
to be clear on your message, what you stand for, what you are trying to say
to build consistency in how you show up
real stories, results and values to show you are credible
People buy from people, especially in the early stages of business. They buy trust, alignment, and a sense that you get them.
And that trust starts with showing up as yourself. No gimmicks. No hype. Just strategic, credible visibility that works for you (the real you), and gets results.
Because the only thing more exhausting than not being seen…is being visible while pretending to be someone else.
