Clear direction
Stop polishing the message.
Start solving the problem
Strategic thinking, behavioural insight and PR for organisations ready to get clearer, braver and more useful.
Is this you?
You’ve got a good thing going. But,
you’re struggling to explain it
everyone has a slightly different version of the story
something isn’t working, but you’re not sure what
you’re about to make a big move. A launch, repositioning, growth, restructure or a new direction.
And your first instinct is to fix the communications.
Let’s pause.
Better communication isn’t always the answer.
You can spend thousands making your website sharper, your messaging cleverer and your campaign more compelling.
But if you're unclear about what you're trying to achieve, who you're trying to influence or what needs to change, you'll just have a beautifully communicated problem.
That's why we start before the PR.
We'll look at the bigger picture: the problem, the people, the perception and the direction.
And we won't assume the answer has to be communications.
It might be.
It might not.
What’s included
No giant strategy document destined for the bottom drawer.
Just useful thinking, made clear.
A clear direction
Let’s define where you're actually trying to get to, what matters now, what needs to change and what can wait.
Understand who matters
We'll look beyond demographics and stakeholder lists to consider what they think, need, value, fear, expect and actually do.
A reputation reality check
We'll explore the gap between:
how you want to be known
how people currently experience you
what you're actually communicating
Communications and PR for businesses doing good things
This is probably useful if:
You're an established organisation, business or leader with something worth building; but the thinking, positioning or reputation hasn't quite caught up with where you're going.
You're willing to question some assumptions.
You're prepared to make decisions.
And you want an experienced outside brain who isn't afraid to say: “Hang on. Are we sure that's actually the problem?”

Questions you might have
Do I need to know exactly what the problem is before we start? No. In fact, it's often better if you don't.
You need to know that something isn't working, something is changing or something needs to be decided. Part of the job is working out why.
Is this a communications strategy? Not quite.
A communications strategy starts with a reasonably clear strategic destination and works out how communication can help you get there.
This comes earlier.
We work out the destination first.
Will you talk to our team or stakeholders?Where it will improve the work, yes. The scope will depend on the organisation and what we're trying to understand.
What if we discover the problem isn't communications?Excellent.
That's a useful outcome and exactly why we do this work before investing heavily in communications.
Can you implement the strategy afterwards?Yes, where it makes sense.
Depending on what we discover, that might lead into a Narrative and Messaging Framework, Strategic PR Advisory or another piece of work.
But there is absolutely no obligation to continue.
Why not just hire a PR agency? You could.
But if you're still working out what needs to change, you probably don't need more people producing communications yet.
You need someone willing to step back, ask awkward questions and help you work out what you're actually trying to do.
